Short answer: grip socks have silicone grip on the sole that helps stop your foot sliding inside the boot. Wear them on their own or with sock sleeves on top, covering your calf and shin guards. Ours are one size EU 35-46 (foot about 22-29 cm) and go in the washing machine at 30 °C.
What grip socks do
When you brake, turn or strike the ball, your foot tends to move inside the boot. A normal sock slides; a grip sock holds better. What players look for is a more stable, controlled feel, especially when changing direction.
How to choose
| What to check | Our options |
|---|---|
| Length | Grip socks and short grip socks |
| Thickness | Thin black and thick black |
| Colour | Grip socks: white, black, navy, red, yellow, green. Short: navy, red, yellow, green |
| Size | Grip socks: one size EU 35-46 (foot about 22-29 cm) |
| Composition | 60% polyamide, 30% cotton, 7% elastane, 3% silicone (the grip) |
Tip: pick your team colour, go thin if your boots are already tight, and keep a spare pair.
With sock sleeves
Sock sleeves have no foot and go over the grip sock. The order: grip sock on the foot, shin guard on the shin (held with adhesive straps if it is a mini), then the sock sleeve on top, fully covering the shin guard.
Mind the Laws. Law 4 says:
"tape or any material applied or worn externally must be the same colour as that part of the sock it is applied to or covers" (IFAB, Laws of the Game 2026/27, Law 4)
And shin guards must be covered by the socks. In official matches, the sensible choice is grip socks in the same colour as your team socks.
